Three years ago I visited Berlin for the first time and since then I fell in love with the city. Berlin is a city with an inspiring history but it’s also a place where creative people come together. As a tourist in Berlin I’ve seen a lot of cool places and I’m happy to share them with you. Today I’m sharing one of my biggest passions with you: ‘sneakers’.
In Amsterdam we have some cool sneaker stores like Concrete, Patta, Acht and 290 square meters. But the problem is; the stores are not that big and in a month or so everyone has the same pair of sneakers. And that is something I truly hate. You think you’ve bought some cool unique sneakers and a few days later almost everyone is wearing them.
Because there are so many sneaker stores in Berlin I’m going to talk about my favorite ones.
Pauls Boutique
This is my favorite sneaker store in Berlin. Here they sell 2nd hand sneakers and also other used streetwear. Now u all think: “2nd hand stuff that’s dirty…”, but trust me, all the stuff is in great condition. Their brands are sneakers by Adidas, Nike, Puma, Converse, Reebok, New Balance and some more, they’ve got Used Denim by Levis, Nudie, Lee, Wrangler, Cheap Monday etc. Shirts and Jackets by Fred Perry, Stüssy, Carhartt, Irie Daily and many many other brands. I did buy a pair of white Nike sneakers for only 28 Euro, in Amsterdam that’s impossible.

Awear
Awear is a store I would compare with Concrete. But they have their sneakers 3 months before they are in Amsterdam… (Why? What’s wrong with Amsterdamn…) It’s a store that stands out from its neighbors. With crazy piles of graphic tees and sneakers, plastic novelties, books, hats and hoodies, the store is home to such labels as Cleptomanicx, CTRL, Kidrobot, Stüssy, Supreme Being and Supras.

Kickz
Kickz is one of the biggest sneaker stores. In 1993 they opened their first store in Munich. Since then they opened several other stores and also in Berlin. They even have their own brand -‘K1X’ – that’s being sold all over the world. In 1998 Kickz began selling their goods over the Internet. They sell Boxfresh, Jordan, And1, Nike, Reebok, Dvs etc. What I like about the store is that the sales people know what they are talking about. It’s all about sneakers. Contrary to Amsterdam where 4 out of 5 shops hire their employees for their looks and not their product-passion.

These three stores are but some of my favorites but off course there are many more (Solebox, Kickback, Overkill, Zebraclub, Civilist). The grass is always greener on the other side, I know. But really, Amsterdam’s sneakers scene needs to step their game up, cause compared to Berlin… well the germans have a word for it…: Scheiße. So everyone of you that likes sneakers as I do, start demanding more from your stores. Afterall, it’s a buyers market!
In my next article I’m going to discuss some other cool places in Berlin, but for now on… Hasta Luego, Maketoire

Overkill is more of a museum / grafity shop then a sneaker store, they used to have a big collection but now days i think they are limited.
Solebox i want to see the next time i’m in berlin.

New Freegiftcard deals / October 19, 2011There are definitely plntey of particulars like that to take into consideration. That may be a nice point to carry up. I offer the thoughts above as common inspiration but clearly there are questions just like the one you bring up where crucial factor will likely be working in trustworthy good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round issues like that, however I’m certain that your job is clearly identified as a fair game.
